Donnybrook Mall, Dublin

We were requested by Mountbrook Homes Ltd. to prepare a series of studies for the redevelopment of this prominent site in Donnybrook. The brief was to maximise the site's development potential, despite its very low density, given its strategic location in one of the city's most sought-after areas. This posed a unique challenge for the team, as we sought to balance development that would be both commercially viable and avoid dominating the location.

The solution proposed by Dublin Design Studio was to mix developments with retail outlets at lower levels, which would not only enhance the area's vibrancy but also provide much-needed services to the local community. These retail units would also be flexible in size, allowing a variety of businesses to occupy the space and serve a wide range of customers.

In addition to the retail units, the team proposed adding flexibly sized commercial units above. These units would provide high-quality office space for businesses looking to locate in the area, and their flexible size would make them suitable for a wide range of businesses, from small start-ups to larger multinational corporations.

In conclusion, the redevelopment of this prominent site in Donnybrook is a strong example of how a well-designed development can deliver multiple benefits to the local community while remaining commercially viable. Although this project did not proceed, we consider it representative of our commitment to developing projects that positively impact the communities they serve.
