Donnybrook Mall, Dublin

We were requested by Mountbrook Homes Ltd. to prepare a series of studies for the redevelopment of this prominent site in Donnybrook. The brief was to maximise the development potential of the site, which had a very low density despite its strategic location in one of the most sought-after areas in the city. This posed a unique challenge for the team, as we sought to balance a development that would be both commercially viable and not dominate the location.

The solution proposed by Dublin Design Studio was to mix the use of developments featuring retail outlets at the lower levels, which would not only add to the vibrancy of the area but also provide much-needed services to the local community. These retail units would also be of flexible size, allowing for a variety of different businesses to occupy the space and cater to a wide range of customers.

In addition to the retail units, the team proposed the addition of flexibly sized commercial units above. These units would provide high-quality office space for businesses looking to locate in the area, and their flexible size would make them suitable for a wide range of businesses, from small start-ups to larger multinational corporations.

In conclusion, the redevelopment of this prominent site in Donnybrook is a great example of how a well-designed development can provide multiple benefits to the local community while also being commercially viable.
